Colin Buchanan is joined on stage by special guests Liana and Jemimah McNeill!

This weekend, over 350 delegates joined together for the second annual TWIST Music Conference. Featuring talks by Mike Raiter, and music from Colin Buchanan, Nathan Tasker and Nicky Chiswell, the weekend was a wonderful success.

This joint venture of Emu Music (www.emu.mu) and Anglican Youthworks (www.youthworks.net) provided practical music training, as well as two talks on the theology of music and song.

A highlight of the conference was the Saturday night with Colin, especially for me, as I was given the privilege to interview him, and also to see my two girls join him on stage for ‘Isaiah 53:6’ (see photo).

My role was to chair the sessions, which included an hour-long interview with Colin, a performance with Nathan Tasker, a panel with some guests, and the two standard sessions. I also conducted a training session called ‘Youth Ministry and Music’.

For details of next year’s conference, be sure to check (www.conferences.youthworks.net) or send me an email.

I am pleased to announce that Nathan has asked me to be his ‘special guest’ at his concert and album launch in December. I will perform some of my songs at the beginning of the night.

The concert is to be held on Saturday 2nd December 2000 at 7.30pm. It is at Abbotsleigh Girls School Main Hall (1666 Pacific Highway Wahroonga). Tickets are $15.00 (inc GST) and are available at the door.

At the concert Nathan and his band will support the launch of his brand new album ‘Acoustic Hope’.

It would be great if you could come along! It should be a great night!

On the 13th of July I had my one chance in my College degree to preach at Moore College Chapel.

As you might expect, I was not content to simply do the expected. Instead, I wrote two songs (‘Tell Me The Truth’ and ‘Lord Of All Things’) which were based on the passage from Colossians 1:15-20.

So what were the reactions? On the whole, I received lots of really helpful feedback. This I was able to put into place when I delivered a very modified version of the sermon at St Mark’s Darling Point on the 23rd of July.

The sermon stimulated lots of discussion about the form and content of sermons, and how it is that we can use music in that setting.

One of my long term dreams since I first joined the Internet community in August 1995 was to have my own www site. Finally, this dream has come to fruition!

The main thing that drove me to finally register my own ‘dot com’ and design a site was that I was eager to have an ‘on-line’ vehicle for my music. Thus, it is true to say that the primary purpose of this site is to act both as a virtual ‘manager’ and virtual ‘demo tape’. My long-term goal is to provide my visitors with the opportunity to both read my words and hear a ‘demo’ version of my songs.

This has several goals. One is to provide a means by which you can listen to my songs and read my words before you ask me to come and sing and speak. Another goal is to provide those who have heard me live with a proto-CD, awaiting the time that, perhaps, I might release something on CD. This leads to a third goal. As a ‘virtual demo tape’, it is an opportunity for you to give me feedback on whether I should proceed with a professional recording and release of material on CD. Additionally, it will give details of when and where I am appearing, as well as provide information for those interested in asking me to come to sing and speak at an event.

Finally, the site will also give me a vehicle to publish some of my College essays on-line, as well as other things that I put to paper in the years ahead.

So, I hope you enjoy the site, and I look forward to keeping this beast up-to-date with lots of goodies.
